Get ready for #GivingTuesday on December 1st! Giving Tuesday was created as a way for us to remember the importance of giving back after Thanksgiving. It is a global day of giving that is fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Giving Tuesday is also an antidote to the consumer-focused days of Black Friday and Cyber Monday and reminds us what Thanksgiving is really about! Through Orphan Children In Action (OCIA) In Uganda, you can be assured that 100% of your donation will reach the people who need it the most- the poorest of the poor living in slum areas of Nansana. Your gift will providing transformational hope and support for our Ocian's.
This year, we are fundraising to bring the Orphaned child into one more school for 2021! Our goal this year is to raise $2,000-5,000 or more for Ocia Uganda through our Facebook page.
We are using Facebook this year for Giving Tuesday since there is a match opportunity through Facebook. This year, Facebook and PayPal are matching donations on Facebook for a total of up to $7 million dollars – meaning that your donation to Ocia Uganda will be matched!
There are two ways that you can help us reach our goal:
1. Make a donation on December 1st on our Facebook Page! Mark your calendar for the date and get ready to support our girls, starting at 8am EDT on Giving Tuesday. You just need to click the “Donate” button under our header. Share this campaign with your friends and family to inspire them to become involved with a grassroots organization that makes change happen for orphans, and youth in Uganda.
2. Create a Facebook fundraiser to help us fund the Out Reach Program On Facebook, you have likely seen Birthday Fundraisers that friends set up for a cause they care about. Did you know that Facebook does not charge any fees to the nonprofit for these Birthday Fundraisers? This means that 100% of the funds raised go straight to your designated nonprofit.
Creating a fundraiser on Facebook is very simple and you can read this guide to walk you through the process. The goal is to get as many people as possible to launch their Facebook fundraiser by November 14th with the finale on December 1st so that they can encourage people to donate on Giving Tuesday and take advantage of the PayPal match! You can also use any of these pictures on the blog post on your fundraising page and contact Enock at enock@ociaug.org for any assistance.
Once your fundraiser is set up, you can inform and inspire your friends and family members to support a cause that you are passionate about – supporting girls’ education and ending gender inequality! Your friends and family can donate to your Fundraiser in just a few clicks, without ever leaving Facebook.
